Welcome to my About Page. My blog Edgy Amelia has evolved into a space where I share resources and reflections on the intersecting issues of social justice, human rights, and disability.

My name is not Amelia, although I enjoy how the blog’s title grants me a measure of anonymity. Amelia stands for Amelia Sedley, a character from William Thackeray’s 19th Century novel Vanity Fair. Years ago, my friend compared me to an “edgy version of Amelia Sedley,” and I liked how “Edgy Amelia” sounded. My friend’s comparing me to Amelia was apt–I have many of Amelia’s characteristics, and I strive for her underlying values of kindness and belief in humanity.
